My day’s work today at Penrhyn Castle

It was a mixed day’s work today. I popped in the hear the Penrhyn Male Voice Choir sing in the great Hall, which was the most amazing sound without microphones I ever heard. I was the photographer so it worked out for me to be there. Lovely Welsh singers singing in their native tongue. What a treat!

Quiet in the workshop now with Christmas around the corner. I glued up more panels for the Shaker chest I will be making this week provided making my final Christmas presents don’t get in the way.

Here is the toolbox to date. Love working in pine. This one will be dyed and finished with shellac for speed, ease and durability. Got all the dovetails nice and tight too. Can’t bring myself to let the saw run past somehow. Oh well!

Started French polishing the Hope Chest but ran out of time. Perhaps tomorrow or Monday. Only takes an hour or so. The grain really looks stunning. Not quite settled on the knobs now. Think I might try something a bit different.
