More on rockers

I was able to work on the side rails of the rocking chair again today. I didn’t have as much time s I thought I would to work on this and i sill have a table to complete but perhaps I will do that in New York next week. These rails are always made with angled tenons and are a little more complicated to lay out and cut, but they were all four rails done and fitted in an hour and a half, which was great.

The remarkable thing about using mainly hand tools to work with is that you can sand the whole chair down to a roughness of #250 in a matter of minutes. The parts are ready for staining or dying and finishing with whatever finish I choose. Very satisfying. Rockers and arms next and then the leather seat.

More tomorrow!
