I’d appreciate your knowledge in my project. I’m building a quarter-size rolltop desk using traditional tools. But I don’t know how to cut the groove for the tambour to ride in using hand planes. How would a curved groove be cut (since it’s a model the groove would only need to be 1/8″ deep)? Would I need to simply chisel the entire groove on both sides or is there a type of handplane (I own slot) I could use–maybe a router plane with a curved fence? Thank you and I’ve watch dozens and dozens of your videos and I so appreciate the knowledge you impart!
A scratch stock is the key. Simply a piece of thin steel held between to pieces of wood with a notch thatallows the steel to scrape a recess.
