Upcoming Wood Preparation Live Q&A
It’s time for another Q&A session and this time it is live! We want to do these more regularly so we’ve decided to have a ‘theme’ each time, to focus on one topic. This week our Q&A will be on wood preparation.
Thank you if you sent in your questions and I will do my best to answer them! You can watch it here:
(If you missed my last general Q&A, you can watch it here.)
“2pm BST (British Standard Time)”…
Briitsh SUMMER time, surely!
Matt
Thanks Matt. Your right! My bad!
Pleasure! It was really for the benefit of non British folk, so they know what it really means!
Matt
There is only one global time for a global audience, it is UTC.
Not every Country uses summer time and not every country change at the same date.
I always need an extra second to figure out what is the meaning of “am” and “pm”; it is disturbing for me.

Hi I am planing on staring on Paul’s workbench next month . But the ahead I planing on putting in is use to hold a lot other stuff . This mines I only have room for the bench. I was thinking of putting up a stand alone sead .what size would Paul say would be the mimmu I could go in a sead ?
The smallest bench I have worked from has been around 36″ long and 22″ deep by 38″ high, Thomas.
Thank you Paul for the answer but I was asking about the size of a shead I could use as a workshop . Sorry my typing is not to good . Thomas from Ireland
For a hand-tool only woodworking shed, I would not go below 2 m X 3 m with enough ceiling height to turn a 2.5 m board. Then one might want extra space to store some lumber. My workbench is about 1.5 X 0.6 m.

Hi Thomas, Sylvain pretty much nailed it with the minimum size. Until I finish my bigger working space that is what I have at the moment (it was a laundry stuck on the back off the house originally). The only caveat I would place on it is if you have the opportunity to build in/ retrofit a set of double doors then anything long you are working on the bench can stick out through them if the weather plays ball, effectively giving you a bit more elbow room.
Hi thank you guys that is about the size the budget would go to any way. To be far I don’t want much just somewhere to my self . By the way Paul good job on the q&a at 2pm today . Stay safe and well
Hi. Will the Q&A be streamed today?
Stefan R.
Yes. 2pm BST
We seem to have lost the link to the imminent/later today session?
Matt
