An Event To Liven Your January 2017

DSC_0038 I have wanted to present one of these for some time and now is the time. This will be the first of others to come hopefully. Often times my work in teaching and educating revolves more around the workbench and with good reason too. Some nationalities are known for speaking with their hands at the same time as their voices. They become quite animated and expressive, not too characteristic of the British.

In January we will be hosting an event surrounding woodworking joinery and I am hoping we can fill every seat to the tune of a hundred people fascinated  by woodworking. The series will inspire you by the ways crafting artisans like myself have united wood to wood through the centuries using methods that have changed very little. Here is the link outlining what I plan to deliver. DSC_0451 Why the reference to expressing yourself through hand movements and oration? How better can I express myself than by standing amidst you and describing the actions of my mind in the extension of my hands. P1200640

I am not sure if something like this has been presented by a craftsman like me, and I plan on spending the next two months preparing something very brand new for it. Join me won’t you? There will be other likeminded people there to share a special time together.

  1. Sounds like a fantastic event. I won’t be in Oxford but maybe there will be an online version someday. The beauty of simple design and physics coming together in functional creation appeals to so many without having to know the details. I like the concept of hearing your individual expression of that union, having created it for so many years in your own unique way.

  2. I live in good ol’ Ohio USA so I cant make it there but I would love to watch if maybe you could stream it or post it to your site or youtube.

You have been a huge inspiration me second only to my grandfather who also was a woodworker by hobby for many years until his passing and I still have several pieces he had made me.
